How to set up

Prop phone over paper

Place a cup on your desk. Lay your phone face-down on top so the back camera looks straight down at your paper below.

Pick your reference image

Tap Pick in the panel and choose any photo from your gallery — a portrait, animal, logo, or landscape.

Size and position it

Drag to move, pinch to zoom, twist to rotate, use the opacity slider to see through the image.

Lock it and trace

Tap the lock icon so nothing shifts. Pick up your pencil and trace the outlines you see onto your paper below.

💡

The image only appears on your screen — not on the paper. You're using the screen as a transparent guide while your eyes look back and forth.

Touch gestures

Drag one finger

Move the image freely in any direction.

Pinch in / out

Zoom image smaller or larger to match your paper size.

Twist two fingers

Rotate the image clockwise or counterclockwise.

Swipe panel down

Collapse controls out of the way. Swipe up to restore.

Controls

Opacity

Slider

Controls how transparent the reference image appears. Lower it so your pencil hand stays visible.

Scale

Slider

Zooms the image from 10% to 400%. Use alongside pinch gestures to get the image perfectly sized to match your paper.

Rotate

Slider

Rotates −180° to +180°. Great for aligning a portrait to landscape. Works alongside the two-finger twist gesture.

Pick image

Button

Opens your photo library to choose any image as your reference. Pick a new image at any time — settings are preserved.

Mirror

Button

Flips the image horizontally. Useful when your camera angle reverses the image, or when tracing a mirrored design.

Reset

Button

Resets opacity to 50%, scale to 100%, rotation to 0°, clears mirror, and returns to Original filter in one tap.

Flip camera

Top right

Switches between front and back camera. The back camera works best — point it straight down at your paper from above.

Lock screen

Top left

Hides all controls and freezes touch gestures so nothing shifts while you draw. Tap Tap to unlock to restore everything.

Home

Below lock

Returns to this instruction screen at any time without losing your image or settings.

Image filters

Filters process your image to make outlines easier to see and trace. Switch freely at any time.

Original

Full color, no processing. Best starting point.

Gray

Removes color so shapes stand out more clearly.

Edges

Dark outlines on white. Shows only contours — ideal for tracing.

Sketch

Pencil-on-paper look with warm tones. Background softened.

Hi-Con

High contrast grayscale. Borders pop — great for portraits.

Invert

Flips all colors. Easier to trace at low opacity on white paper.

Warm

Adds a warm amber tone. Easier on the eyes in bright rooms or under lamp light.
